Piece Together Counsellors understand that when your mind tricks you into believing that a situation is a threat you can experience both emotional and physical reactions that are extremely uncomfortable. Piece Together Counsellors understand that this can lead to feeling nervous and a sense of butterflies in your stomach.  Our anxiety counsellors understand that these reactions are ‘normal’ responses in events or situations that you may perceive as stressful.  However feelings of panic, intense fear and uneasiness are not.  Our anxiety counsellors recognise these feelings are extremely uncomfortable and can effect everyday life.

 

Some of these uncomfortable experiences maybe;

·         Feelings of extreme panic, fear and worry

·         The need to escape/run from the situation

·         Sore stomach and/or feeling like being sick

·         A feeling like your heart is going to jump out of your chest/heart racing

·         Light headed

·         Loss of breath

·         A sense of impending doom

 

A Piece Together Counsellor can help you start to question and challenge your thoughts and beliefs.  This can help you start to face ‘the fear’, ‘the worry’ ‘the anxiety’ and the beliefs that may be tricking your mind into believing that certain situations are a threat.
